Professor Berger is an internationally renowned arbitrator with more than 30 years of experience in national and international commercial arbitration.
He presides over and sits as co-arbitrator in arbitration proceedings covering a wide range of industries, from international trade contracts to long term energy and infrastructure projects, post‑M&A and national and international financial markets disputes.
His expertise is confirmed by various rankings (Band 1 on Chambers and Partners, Lexology).
Professor Berger has extensive experience with various arbitration rules (e.g. DIS, ICC, LCIA, Swiss Rules, VIAC, UNCITRAL) and with governing laws from both the civil law and common law world.
His approach as an arbitrator is pragmatic, fair and efficient, with the aim of resolving commercial disputes on a sound legal basis and always taking into account the interests of all parties involved.
Professor Berger’s working languages are German and English. He also has reading proficiency in French and Dutch.
