Pro­fes­sor Berg­er is an inter­na­tion­al­ly renowned arbi­tra­tor with more than 30 years of expe­ri­ence in nation­al and inter­na­tion­al com­mer­cial arbi­tra­tion.

He pre­sides over and sits as co-arbi­tra­tor in arbi­tra­tion pro­ceed­ings cov­er­ing a wide range of indus­tries, from inter­na­tion­al trade con­tracts to long term ener­gy and infra­struc­ture projects, post‑M&A and nation­al and inter­na­tion­al finan­cial mar­kets dis­putes.

His exper­tise is con­firmed by var­i­ous rank­ings (Band 1 on Cham­bers and Part­ners, Lex­ol­o­gy).

Pro­fes­sor Berg­er has exten­sive expe­ri­ence with var­i­ous arbi­tra­tion rules (e.g. DIS, ICC, LCIA, Swiss Rules, VIAC, UNCITRAL) and with gov­ern­ing laws from both the civ­il law and com­mon law world.

His approach as an arbi­tra­tor is prag­mat­ic, fair and effi­cient, with the aim of resolv­ing com­mer­cial dis­putes on a sound legal basis and always tak­ing into account the inter­ests of all par­ties involved.

Pro­fes­sor Berger’s work­ing lan­guages are Ger­man and Eng­lish. He also has read­ing pro­fi­cien­cy in French and Dutch.
